Workshops on the Digital One-Stop Shop for Short-Term Rentals

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU) held a workshop on January 29 to introduce the Digital One-Stop Shop for Short-Term Rentals, marking progress in the implementation of Royal Decree 1312/2024, dated December 23. This decree regulates the procedures for the unified rental registry and establishes a digital tool for collecting and sharing data on short-term rental services.

Royal Decree 1312/2024, which regulates the Unified Short-Term Rental Registry, came into effect on January 2, 2025. Its full implementation is set for July 1, 2025, allowing a transition period for businesses and authorities to adapt their technological and operational processes. According to EU regulations, all member states must ensure the full functionality of the regulated information flows by May 20, 2026.

The decree defines short-term rentals, covering vacation, work-related, or temporary leases, as long as they do not involve a permanent housing need. These services may include entire or partial urban properties, boats, and other non-residential accommodations.
